Standard Investment Bank (SIB) is a leading financial services firm in Kenya founded in 1995. The firm offers individual and institutional clients a single point of entry for Asset Management, Securities Trading, Market Research, Investment Management and Corporate Finance. SIB is regulated as an Investment Bank (2003) and an Online Forex Trading Money Manager (2018) by the Capital Markets Authority.

The Global Markets Division of Standard Investment Bank is responsible for providing alternative investment options to investors. The division’s flagship product Mansa-x is a Multi-Asset Strategy Fund that invests in both local and global financial instruments. Its objective is to accelerate clients’ capital growth through diversification.

To manage its progressive growth, the company is looking to recruit a Senior Trader in the Global Markets Division.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the below duties and responsibilities:


  • Using technical, fundamental and sentiment analysis to formulate and execute clear trade ideas with approval by the Executive Director, Global markets
  • Work within the laid down risk managements limits as per the Global Markets policy with direction by the Executive Director, Global Markets
  • Evaluating trading algorithms
  • Collating relevant information and data
  • Consistently reaching the laid down targets on the trading desk while adhering to the risk management framework
  • Liaising closely with sales staff and inter-dealer brokers and traders
  • Determining market sentiment via research, valuation and data analysis
  • Monitoring market performance and using this to execute trades
  • Market Making in specific OTC products
  • Providing key counterparties with daily trading information
  • Informing sales staff and financial advisors about market movements/prices
  • Creating a daily exposure report of running trades with the Executive  Director , Global Markets


The trader is expected to be self-motivated to plan and initiate trades on behalf of SIB. They need strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate their investment strategies, as well as the knowledge and analytical skills to back up their plans. The trader must also be able to work at a fast pace, making quick decisions based on market changes. Additionally, they need to be team players since they are expected to work with other traders, brokers, banks counterparties and other SIB staff.


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
  • ACI Qualification (this must be acquired within 1 year of employment)
