Standard Investment Bank (SIB) is a leading financial services firm in Kenya founded in 1995. The firm offers individual and institutional clients a single point of entry for Asset Management, Securities Trading, Market Research, Investment Management and Corporate Finance. SIB is regulated as an Investment Bank (2003) and a Money Manager (2018) by the Capital Markets Authority.

We are seeking a highly motivated computer science graduate student to join our IT department as an intern. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting computers, ensuring the network is functioning properly, seeing through assigned projects, and basic programming.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing technical support to users in the organization.
  2. Troubleshooting computer issues, hardware, and software.
  3. Gather feedback from end users about system performance
  4. Ensuring network infrastructure is working correctly, diagnosing problems, and resolving them.
  5. Perform regular checks on systems and prepare reports to the head of IT based on the company IT policies and procedures.
  6. Undertaking assigned projects, which may include network maintenance, system upgrades or programming.
  7. Develop and analyze functional requirements
  8. Telephony system monitoring, onboarding, off boarding and maintenance.
  9. Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users/customers during and after system installation.
  10. Speak to customers via email and phone for initial requirement capture.
  11. Collaborating with the IT team to ensure the smooth running of the IT department.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  2. Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Detail-oriented and ability to multitask.
  7. Proactive, with a desire to learn and improve.

This is a full-time internship position, with a duration of 3 months. The internship offers hands-on experience in a dynamic IT environment, with exposure to a wide range of technical projects and challenges. The intern will receive a stipend and have the opportunity to learn from experienced IT professionals.
